The Department is based at the University's Coleraine campus, on
the North West coast of Northern Ireland, in an area of outstanding
natural beauty.
The Department comprises 22 academic staff, including 3 professors.

The Department offers a range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels combining the core areas of business studies with a number of specialist subjects. Specialist subjects include retailing and financial services. We have a strong international student base with a large cohort of students from other European countries (ERASMUS programme) and from our partner institutions in China.

The Department is strongly engaged with local and international business. Our links with local and international business help to inform our course development. We are involved in a range of industry liaison activities and collaborative activities that help to promote knowledge transfer with the local regional economy. The Department has strong research expertise in various areas including
retailing, financial services, small business and entrepreneurship,
internationalization and e-business. Research activities are supported

Spotlight On Green Energy Solutions

A three day conference at the University of Ulster is focussing on how rural businesses can exploit cheaper alternative energy sources and wean themselves off fossil fuels. Academics and researchers from the Faroe Islands, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Ireland, Scotland, Iceland, and Greenland were gathering at the University today to discuss innovative alternative energy solutions. Dr Norry McBride from the Ulster Business School at Coleraine explained: “We will be comparing and discussing each other’s renewable energy projects in detail in order to determine the most cost effective approach allied to the different geographical locations.” ..Read More
2009 Finance Challenge

On Friday 6th November, the University of Ulster’s Octagon (Coleraine Campus) will be transformed into a trading
floor where A-level, HND and Foundation degree students from across the Province will compete to attempt to make
the maximum return from their investment portfolios. The day will include keynote presentations from the banking industry

Ulster Business School Students Rewarded for Innovation

Five enterprising University of Ulster students were recognised for their outstanding achievements at the Ulster Business
School’s 2009 Annual Placement Innovation Competition Awards ceremony. Each received a prize for their contribution
to driving innovation and excellence during their placement year. The innovative projects ranged from introducing incentive
schemes in the hospitality industry to counteract the effects of the recession to establishing a franchise of a catering
organisation, as well as organising an enterprise fair to encourage students to consider entrepreneurship as a career option.

PwC Prize Puts Stella On Path To Success

Stella So (23) is set to be a rising star in the business world after scooping major study awards at the University of Ulster.
Student Stella, from Newcastle, Co Down has won a £5,000 PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) bursary and a place on Ulster’s new Masters
course in the skills of higher management. PwC has thrown its weight behind the new MSc Applied Management degree. As part of its
ongoing support for the course, it will deliver a Management Consultancy module.
